Our staff is composed of design, science and trade professionals who have been hand picked to work as a collaborative team to solve complex environmental problems and build exquisite gardens and natural landscapes. Our staff gains proficiency through constant training and challenging projects. We support our staff in experimentation and following new directions. Professional development is supported at all levels from post graduate science research to LEED accreditation to trade certificates at local community colleges. Every level of continuing education is supported at Shelterbelt. The Habitat Restoration Technician works on small or large field crew to conduct habitat restoration field work in State and National parks, regional open spaces and private lands and gardens throughout Northern California and Western Washington. This position is comparable to landscape construction, SCA crew, trail
building and forestry tree planting trades. Field work includes planting
and maintaining native plants habitats and gardens, stream channel restoration,
irrigation, removal of invasive plants, trail, fence & wall construction
and monitoring/mapping.
